18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, Romans 1:18a
7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot. Romans 8:7

1 This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, 2 Peter 3:1
I. God is Eternal (v. 8)
8 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3:8
A. With the Lord, A Thousand Years is as a Day
24“All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, 1 Peter 1:24
14 What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. James 4:14b
1 Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying,
3“Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.”
4 He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision.
The more you look at humanity through the vista of God being eternal, the less you will worry about minutia of this world.
12 So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12
B. With the Lord, One Day is as a Thousand Years
8 with the Lord one day is as a thousand years 2 Peter 3:8b
God can do more in a moment than Satan can do in your lifetime. Thank God for His eternality.
II. God is Patient (v. 9)
9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, 2 Peter 3:9a
9 not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. 2 Peter 3:9b
“God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked” (Ez 18:23, 32; 33:11)
