Awesome: I Can Go to Heaven!
13 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. Matthew 7:13–14
I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, Deuteronomy 30:19
“And to this people you shall say: ‘Thus says the Lord: Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death. Jeremiah 21:8
1. Two Doors
The door to life is straight. The door to death is wide.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6
And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Timothy 2:5
Jesus is not the best way to Heaven. He is the only way to Heaven.
Salvation is the exchange of all we are for all He is.
For they themselves report concerning us the kind of reception we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 1 Thessalonians 1:9
2. Two Directions
A narrow way and a broad way.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, Hebrews 12:1
Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, Philippians 3:13
Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. Matthew 16:24
3. Two Destinations
What is eternal life?
- Knowing Jesus Christ.
- Experiencing His grace, His love.
- A living relationship with God.
You are on your way to one of two destinations.
- Fellowship with God or separation from God.
- One is heaven, the other is hell.
- One is eternal life, the other is eternal death.
We can’t say, “Thy kingdom come” until we first say “my kingdom go.”
